Blue Ridge Mountain Home Building is an exciting and challenging
experience. The natural beauty of this area is one of its biggest
draws. When working with Duermit Development, we don't stop at
house plans, we consider land planning and sustainability when
building your dream home with you. It's and important step in our
design approach.
We plan our homes to become an integral part of the land on
which they are situated. When viewed, each one seems like a
natural part of its surroundings. Even so, visual appearances are
not the only consideration. The feel and comfort levels of living
in a house are also vitally important. Many days and hours are
spent studying natural factors such as topography, orientation to
the sun, wind direction, drainage and other microenvironmental
factors. Few challenges are as complex or involve as many varied
people as building a fine, well- built home. The ability to
organize this diverse group of subcontractors and ensure quality
work is critical. Mike's Masters Degree in Land Planning and years
of experience building in this unique part of the country make him
particularly knowledgeable in this area.
Starting from the footers up, we build a well- built home.
As Mike says, "You don't want to get the sizzle without the steak."
Our definition of a well- built home is one that not only looks
amazing to the untrained eye, but a home that, if Master Carpenter
- Norm Abram had a time machine, could be looked at in 100 years,
and still be sound and strong in a distant future episode of "This
Old House." A gracious home is one thing, but a well- built
gracious home is another-and we strive for excellence in all
aspects of the building process-not just aesthetics.
